NBC Luke Russert visits Wake Forest Unviersity

NBC is plugging into the opinions of the nation's youngest voters.

And helping them is NBC Youth Correspondent Luke Russert...the son of the late NBC political journalist Tim Russert. He moderated "Meet the Press" for more than 16 years.

Since August....22-year-old Russert and a cameraman have traveled the country chronically the Presidential and Vice Presidential campaigns through the eyes of young voters.

Last night Russsert visited Wake Forest University and watched the second Presidential debate with communication and debate students.

NBC Youth Correspondent Luke Russert. He'll attend the final Presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead New York.

WFDD'S Kathryn Mobley was there and asked him what concerns young voters.

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama comes to GSO

Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama and running mate Senator Joe Biden continue campaigning in key states this week--as they push toward the general elections on November 4th.

This weekend, they led a rally in the Triad promising to turn North Carolina a traditionally red state...blue.

WFDD's Julie Goyette was there and has more.

Republicans have won the state of North Carolina in each of the past seven Presidential elections. GOP candidate John McCain last visited our state in May during the primary season.

His running mate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hasn't yet been to North Carolina.

Friday night, Barack Obama and John McCain were in Oxford, Mississippi for the first of three presidential debates. Many who watched on television reacted out loud as the debate unfolded, but one group of Wake Forest University students expressed themselves online. W-F-D-D's Bradley George explains.

Future NC voters speak out

This weekend, Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama and running mate Senator Joe Biden led a rally at Greensboro's Depot on Washington Street. WFDD'S Kathryn Mobley was there. She met some voters-in-training and heard their concerns. The first individual has several health problems but was determined to get a close up look at the Democratic candidates. Greensboro police estimate twenty thousand people attended Saturday's outdoor rally at the Depot.

The Democratic Party is sending a strong message to North Carolina's female voters-- We need your support.

And today, Michelle Obama carried this message during a Greensboro rally.

WFDD's Kathryn Mobley was there and has more.

Before coming to Greensboro, Mrs. Obama spoke at a women's economic roundtable in Charlotte.

Also Democratic candidate for the U-S Senate Kay Hagan spoke the Greensboro rally.

A new energy appears to be surging through the Republican Party. Triad delegate Nancy Wells is in Minneapolis-St. Paul for the GOP National Convention. She says the new spark is connected with the party's vice president moninee...Gov. Sarah Palin.

Nancy Wells is her party's secretary in Greensboro's 12th District. This is her fourth national convention.

Jack Fleer

The 2008 presidential political race is in full swing. But throughout the last several election cycles, Wake Forest University Political Science Professor Emeritus Jack Fleer has been studying the impact and importance of the Governor's office. His results are in his book, entitled Governors Speak. In the first of a two part interview, Professor Fleer talks to WFDD's Denise Franklin about Governors and the presidency.

Jack Fleer is a professor emeritus of political science at Wake Forest University and his book is entitled Governors Speak. This afternoon during All Things Considered, Fleer talks to Denise Franklin about North Carolina 's recent governors and how the power of the office has changed over the years.
