General Calendar Submission Policies

88.5 WFDD is proud to be a part of the Piedmont Triad community and is pleased to promote local arts and community events as part of our public service. WFDD airs public service announcements (PSAs) for non-profit organizations offering public events of general community interest. WFDD does not air “awareness-raising” announcements or calls for donations. For complete PSA policy information please read the following.

88.5 WFDD posts information regarding community events on its website calendar, and broadcasts public service announcements on air, as a community service. This service is intended to provide listeners with information about community activities in which they may have an interest. WFDD strives to include PSAs from as many different non-profit sources as possible in the station's arts and community calendar. Priorities for PSA selection include: community issues, multicultural events, arts related events, educational events, and environmental related events. Events must be of general interest to WFDD’s audience.

The PSAs must focus on basic facts: who, what, when, and where. No lengthy descriptions will be given. WFDD reserves the right to edit announcements prior to posting or broadcasting. Any on air announcements are culled directly from the website’s calendar, and are chosen at the discretion of the on air host. Due to the high volume of PSA requests, we are unable to notify you if your PSA will be posted or broadcast, though if it is accepted, it will appear in the website Arts and Community Calendar. We cannot guarantee air time.

PSAs cannot contain any qualifying or comparative language nor can they express any ideological, theological, or political opinions. There are several items we are unable to air, including:

1. Informational announcements (e.g. National XYZ Week or Month)
2. Any event that is not open to the public
3. Your group’s weekly or monthly meeting, except when a speaker of unusual local, regional, or national prominence will be appearing
4. Any solicitation for auditions or camps
5. Requests for volunteers
6. High school, college, or church reunions
7. Events at your church or synagogue, except for significant concerts or lectures, non-liturgical in nature
8. Events outside of WFDD’s coverage area
9. Any event sponsored by another radio station
10. Any pre-recorded PSA material

FCC regulations discourage Public Radio Stations from fundraising for other organizations, even non-profits. While it may be possible to do a PSA for your fundraising event, it depends greatly on the particulars. You may submit your fundraiser for PSA consideration, but please understand that we may not be able to accept it.

We reserve the right to reject any announcement that, in our opinion, does not meet WFDD guidelines (whether or not specifically identified above), is not in good taste, is not appropriate to be broadcast to our audience, or would be offensive to WFDD, its staff, supporters, or licensee.
PSAs should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the event and should include the following information:
• Name/description of the event
• Date(s), time(s) and place(s) the event will be conducted (street address is mandatory)
• Name of any presenting organizations
• Whether or not there is a cost to attend (no dollar amounts will be given, only whether or not there is a fee)
• Whether or not a reservation or registration is required
• A telephone number, including area code, to call for information
• Email address, if any, of the sponsoring organization, or other organization that would have information on the event
• Any other pertinent information, not including editorializing on the participants/subjects or sponsor(s) of the event
Failure to include the required information may mean that your PSA is not broadcast or posted on the WFDD community calendar. Events in the current month have priority over events in subsequent months. Events in any month after the current month will be posted as time allows. Please note that some PSAs contain multiple events in different months. In the interest of the best use of our time, these series of events usually, but not necessarily, will be posted at the same time we post the event from the current month.

PSAs can be submitted using the form on our website, by emailing psawfdd@wfu.edu, or via US Mail to:

10 & 2: The Community Review Policies   Return to event submission page
Non-profit organizations (certified by 501c3 documentation and/or Federal EIN) are solely eligible for inclusion on 10 & 2: The Community Review.

All materials including PSAs and calendar items submitted to 88.5 WFDD for intended inclusion on 10 & 2 are subject to approval and editing by WFDD. WFDD cannot guarantee publication or air time of such materials, nor can WFDD guarantee inclusion of materials in 10 & 2.

Event submissions must be received via WFDD’s online calendar, accessible through http://wfdd.org by clicking on "10 & 2: The Community Review." Submissions must be received by WFDD at least one week prior to the date of the event to be included in 10 & 2. All posts to WFDD’s online calendar must conform to WFDD's policies and guidelines for approval as stated on the web page for online event submission: http://wfdd.org/programs/102submit.php.

Calendar submissions, announcements and events mentioned on-air during 10 & 2 will be considered to be Public Service Announcements (PSAs). As such, all potential 10 & 2 content must conform to WFDD's policies and guidelines for Public Service Announcements, accessible online at http://wfdd.org/about/psa_policy.php (this page).

Events selected to be included in 10 & 2 are chosen to objectively reflect and represent the diversity of events and sponsoring non-profit organizations in the 32 counties served by WFDD. Events hosted or sponsored by underwriters of WFDD programming, or by organizations affiliated otherwise with WFDD or Wake Forest University are neither given priority over mentions of other events, nor are their events assured inclusion on 10 & 2.

If you have questions about 10 & 2: The Community Review, please contact WFDD at wfdd@wfu.edu or by calling (336) 758-8850.
