Dr. Dennis Lemly, research fish biologist for the US Forest service looks at how coal ash is stored and the potential danger those storage processes have on the environment around the storage sites.

Recently, we looked at the cause of the Dan River coal ash spill, and discussed some ways to read the river for damage. Today we’ll speak with Dr. Dennis Lemly, research fish biologist for the US Forest Service, about this recent spill and the impact of ash waste in general.

North Carolina native Dr. Stokes Fishburne was among a team of engineers on the ground working to bring the Apollo 13 crew home safely.

Every kid ‘gets’ that when you let go of the open end of an inflated balloon and it flies around the room, its speed is determined by the amount of air in the balloon. It really doesn’t take a rocket scientist.
