88.5 WFDD's college level internship program is open to students attending Triad area colleges and universities.
Applicants are chosen based on a competitive application process; students are encouraged to apply for an internship as far as 6 months ahead of their proposed start date.
We're looking for interns who:
- Want practical experience in the radio broadcasting and/or nonprofit industry;
- Want to acquire skills that can only be learned on the job;
- Are willing and able to devote, on average, 15-20 hours per week to the internship position;
- Are self-motivated and excited about enriching their educational experiences.

Press Release: 88.5 WFDD announces Radio 101, a new education program for high school students
In early 2011, WFDD launched a new community education program for high school students entitled Radio 101. The program is now underway at Carver High School in Winston-Salem and The Middle College at Guilford Technical Community College in High Point. This spring, WFDD will begin airing stories produced by students participating in Radio 101.
Radio 101 teaches interested students about journalism, technology, personal reflection and storytelling -- and includes access to digital recorders, microphones, and laptops for editing audio.

Radio Camp

88.5 WFDD's Radio Camp is a week-long, summer enrichment day camp for middle school students interested in technology, journalism, and the exciting world of radio!
All activities are led by 88.5 WFDD staff members.
Over the week, students learn the basics of audio recording in the studio and "in the field;" how to conduct an interview; how to edit sound on computers into a radio news story; and the other skills needed to write, record, edit, and create stories for the radio.
