Film to Raise Awareness of Soldier Suicide

Nearly 23.5 soldiers or veterans commit suicide every day.

The rate of soldier suicide is reportedly 10% higher than the civilian rate.  Every day, 22 veterans and 1.5 active duty soldiers commit suicide. While the Veteran’s Administration has resources to help soldiers in such emotional crisis, the agency remains overwhelmed as more soldiers return from foreign wars.

Hire a Vet Week Features Job Fairs for Veterans

This week is Hire a Vet week, under a proclamation by North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory.  Job fairs are being held across the state to encourage employers to give preferential hiring consideration to veterans. Larry Calloway, Veterans Supervisor for the North Carolina Commerce Department, says hiring a veteran is a real win for employers.
