9th Annual Piedmont Environmental Earth Day is this Saturday

This weekend the celebration of Mother Earth continues in the Triad at the 9th annual Piedmont Earth Day Fair at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds on Saturday from 10-5 with live music, demonstrations, fun for kids, and some great healthy local food options. On Saturday night it’s a performance of Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greensboro on Saturday. Piedmont Environmental Alliance Executive Director Kristin Wiggins spoke with David Ford about the Fair.

Forsyth Audubon Partners with Habitat For Humanity To Create Bird-Friendly Yards For Families

The Wood Thrush is one of the target species for Audubon North Carolina. The Dogwood berries are important fuel for fall migration. Several varieties of native plants are being planted in yards at Habitat for Humanity homes in Forsyth County.

Several Habitat for Humanity homes in Winston-Salem are getting a green makeover. The agency’s Forsyth County chapter is teaming up with Audubon North Carolina to create bird-friendly private and public spaces.

Faster Internet Speed: When Will It Reach The Triad?

Google chose Kansas City from among 1,100 or so hopeful communities around the country to install its first community-wide fiber optic network cable of delivering gigabit broadband speeds. Some companies, including North State and AT&T, are investing in initiatives to bring ultrafast Internet speeds to the Triad.
