You can discover, explore and learn more about Forsyth County's water sources starting Saturday.

The annual Creek Week runs through March 22. Activities include fishing, creek crawls, lectures and volunteer cleanups.

Roseann L'Esperance is a community educator for the city's storm water department. She says Creek Week is a chance for people to get their feet wet while learning about the importance of the area's creeks, streams and rivers.

This is the second year that organizers are hosting Creek Week in Forsyth County. L'Esperance said the Feb. 2 coal ash spill in the Dan River has brought home the importance of clean local waterways.

Creek Week is a city-county initiative that also includes Old Salem Museums and Gardens and local non-profit environmental groups.
