The John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival in High Point, North Carolina was established to celebrate the life and music of one of the city's most famous native sons.

Coltrane transformed the jazz world with his unique approaches to harmony, virtuosity, and lasting compositions. Now in its fifth year, the John Coltrane Festival continues to grow and to attract today's leading jazz artists, many of whom embody the legendary saxophonist's contributions.

This year, among them are bassist Marcus Miller (two-time Grammy Winner, composer/producer of ten critically acclaimed albums) and his friend and longtime collaborator saxophonist David Sanborn (24 albums, six Grammy Awards). Both musicians will perform at the festival on Saturday night, September 5th. They spoke with WFDD's David Ford and shared their thoughts on music, music-making, and life.
