Alexis Gines-Hoyes

Alexis Gines-Hoyes is from Greensboro and earned her B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While reporting for a local newspaper and volunteering as a tutor for a local library, Alexis discovered a love for teaching. She earned her teacher certification at Greensboro College, and now thoroughly enjoys teaching English to high school students. She has had the opportunity to teach English Literature in India, attend a summer education program in England, and experience a professional development immersion experience in Costa Rica. She is proud of the opportunity her students have had to work with WFDD Radio 101 program. Alexis currently teaches Multicultural Literature, English III and Advanced Placement English Language and Composition. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in English with a concentration in Multicultural and Transnational Literature at East Carolina University. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, outdoor activities, creative writing, and starting conversations with “Did you hear on NPR…”.
