Greensboro city council members will meet with a Charlotte Hornets search committee Tuesday at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The News and Record reports the meeting with the Developmental League Site Selection Committee will be at 3 p.m. at the ACC Hall of Champions Conference Room and is open to the public. The meeting may include a tour of the facilities and proposed D-League offices.
Greensboro is one of seven cities being considered as the site for the new NBA Development League team.
Greensboro's proposal uses a regional model, utilizing three different venues — a curtained coliseum main arena, a 3,400-seat Special Events Center court and Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem. The model is similar to one used by the ABA's Carolina Cougars in the 1970's. That team played their games in Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte.
Supporters of the triple-venue plan say it spreads access to the games to more fans and that it prevents scheduling conflicts for single venues.
