Greensboro developer Roy Carroll said Wednesday that he hopes to build a new Greensboro office tower that would likely be the tallest in North Carolina outside Charlotte.

According to the News and Record, Carroll spoke to the Greensboro Rotary Club about "Project 561". The building would be 561 feet, about 100 feet taller than Winston-Salem's tallest building, the Wells Fargo Center.

The minimum 28-story tower will be dominated by Class A office space and possibly a small hotel. Carroll said he won't build until he has a major tenant lined up.

He showed the Rotary group two sketch designs of the building. One would have conventional straight walls, another would have a curved exterior.
