The Guilford County School Board has called a special meeting Tuesday night at High Point's Andrews High School.

It will mark the board's third attempt to find a viable member for their District One seat. Two previous appointees - Christopher Gillespie and Ed Squires Jr. - ended up off the board after concerns were raised over whether they actually lived in the district.

Ed Price is a current board member from High Point. He says those cases were honest mistakes. But the board wants to make sure this time that residency won't be an issue.

“We asked the school board attorney to verify with the Board of Elections the exact residence of everyone who has applied," he says. "That will not happen again, I can assure you.”

The District One seat became open late last year when Carlvena Foster was elected to the Guilford County Board of Commissioners.

The appointment will expire next year, when the school board undergoes redistricting and the number of members drops from 11 to nine.
