George Newman

Operations & Engineering Manager

George joined WFDD in October of 2013, after serving twelve years “hard time” as Market Chief Engineer for six commercial radio stations in and around the Triad area.  He is a North Carolina native, having grown up in Kernersville, and is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro with a double-major in Public Administration and Urban Planning.  Getting a gig at WFDD epitomizes the old banner headline “Local Boy Makes Good!” for George. As Operations & Engineering Manager for WFDD, George works to make sure we stay on the air, and that what comes out of your speakers sounds good (and is the correct program!). In his spare time, George plays keyboards (piano and classical organ),  bass guitar, and accordion.  He has been in and out of several local bands since the mid-nineties, and currently alternates between running the sound board and playing the bass in the praise band for his church.  He also enjoys camping, hiking, mountain biking, raising goats, and playing with his dog Luna.
