Sheila S. Thrower
Sheila Schulz Thrower, a native of New Jersey, came to North Carolina and to WFDD after working as the Traffic and Membership Manager at WWFM "The Classical Network" at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, NJ. Sheila has been in public radio for more than seventeen years. She graduated from College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) with a BA in English and minor in Communications. Sheila also is certified as a K-8 teacher and Secondary English teacher. Sheila has worked in television production in Philadelphia and was an educator in New Jersey schools for ten years. She is married to David Thrower and is a mother of three grown children and has two sons-in-law.
Sheila has coached soccer, taught faith formation, and was a member of the Greensboro Host Lions Club. She has also served as chair for the Fun Fourth Celebration for many years, and was involved in the Bicentennial Celebration as Chair of the Hamburger Square Event and as a historical character, “Mother Peck”. She was a literary judge for several years for the Guilford County School District's Reflections Project. Sheila is a graduate of the Leadership Greensboro Class of 2010. In her spare time she loves traveling, gardening, meteorology and the arts.
