For those who have been thinking about starting a business -- or those who have already taken that step but want to learn about how to make it better, there's an event tomorrow in Winston-Salem called BizLaunch 2013.

Jill Atherton, the Vice President of Economic and Community Development for the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, one of the sponsoring organizations, explains what it's all about.  "BizLaunch," says Atherton, "is an event aimed at helping people who are interested in starting a business, or that are in business, to learn about all the resources we have in our community, most of which are free, and also an opportunity for them to attend some seminars that can help them grow their business."

The seminars will cover a variety of business-related topics. "We're going to have six different seminars, including topics like Overcoming Small Business Challenges,  Understanding the Numbers  (which is really business finance -- basic type things,)  Social Media and Marketing, Legal Issues, What Does it Take to Be an Entrepreneur, and Selling More Stuff Faster," explains Atherton.

This is the second year for Bizlaunch.  Last year, there were a good many people who were just starting out in business, as well as those who had already embarked on an entrepreneurial venture, and were exploring their options.  "Well, last year we had a good combination of both," says Jill Atherton,  "We had some people who were 'tire-kickers' if you will,  those who were just trying to figure out if starting a business makes sense for them.  And then we had people who had been in business for a number of years and were looking for what resources were out there that they could access to help their business grow.  So we had quite a bit of both."

In addition to the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce, BizLaunch 2013 is sponsored by Forsyth Technical Community College, Small Business Center Network, Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development Board and the Small Business Technology and Development Center

Tuesday's even is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Bolton Street Campus of Forsyth Technical Community College, 1300 Bolton St, Winston-Salem,  from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
