Residents in Clemmons Elect a New Mayor

In the Village of Clemmons, challenger Nick Nelson beat incumbent John Bost for the mayor's seat.  

Nelson, 29, is currently serving his first term on Clemmons City Council.

He says his hometown has experienced rapid growth in the past several years, especially along Lewisville-Clemmons Road. Some of the immediate issues he will focus on as mayor are traffic congestion and speeding in neighborhoods.

Nelson says he also hopes to work with other village leaders to help maintain a low tax rate. At 11½ cents for every $100 of property value, the village of Clemmons has one of the lowest tax rates of any municipality in Forsyth County.

According to election results from the Forsyth County Board of Elections, Nick Nelson won the mayoral race in Clemmons with 1,594 votes or 65.01 percent. Incumbent John Bost had 855 votes or 34.87 percent .
