Sir Paul McCartney Adds Greensboro to Concert Tour
Paul McCartney will perform at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex this fall.
The concert company AEG Live made the announcement on Tuesday, along with Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan and Coliseum officials. Scott Johnson, the Deputy Director of the Coliseum Complex, says the iconic musician’s concert will be one of the biggest events in the 55-year history of the facility.
“It’s been 50 years since the Beatles first came to the U.S. and it is a pretty monumental occasion both for the Greensboro Coliseum and the city of Greensboro. But also, there is only ten musical dates that Paul McCartney is playing in the U.S. this year, so it is an exciting time and an exciting opportunity and one that could help us get more major entertainment acts,” says Johnson.
Sir Paul McCartney will perform in Greensboro on October 30th as part of the "Out There" tour. The 72-year-old former Beatle recently rescheduled his June appearances to October due to illness. Organizers say the tour will feature his music as a solo artist, member of Wings and as a Beatle. Johnson says the Greensboro Coliseum will begin a state-wide marketing campaign for the concert on Wednesday.
“You will see a tremendous amount of activity in the marketplace, a lot of social network activity, radio and television promotion and this will run state-wide throughout North Carolina and Southern Virginia. This is the only play for Sir Paul McCartney in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia,” says Johnson.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster & the Coliseum box office on June 30th. However, Johnson says American Express card members can purchase tickets before the general public on Thursday, June 26 at 10 a.m.
