Winston-Salem, NC - 88.5 WFDD, the Piedmont Triad's
public radio station, is bringing the popular public radio program
Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!® to Winston-Salem this coming
September. The station will host a live taping of the show at Wake
Forest University's Wait Chapel on Thursday, September 13, 2007, at
7:30pm.
Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!® is National Public Radio®'s oddly informative news quiz. During each fast-paced, irreverent show, host Peter Sagal leads what might be characterized as the news Olympics. Callers, panelists, and guests compete by answering questions about the week's events, identifying impersonations, filling in the blanks at lightning speed, sniffing out fake news items, and deciphering limericks. Listeners vie for a chance to win the most coveted prize in radio: having official judge and scorekeeper, Carl Kasell, record the outgoing message on their home answering machine. Panelists at the September 13th live taping at Wait Chapel will include humorist Roy Blount, Jr., Mo Rocca (from TV's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart), and Houston Chronicle deputy managing editor Kyrie O'Connor.
Wait, Wait . . . Don't Tell Me!® is heard on approximately
425 NPR® member stations nationwide by 2.3 million listeners weekly.
It airs locally on 88.5 WFDD on Saturday mornings at 11:00.
Tickets for this live taping will go on sale through WFDD beginning
on July 2, 2007, at 9:00am. Tickets will be $35 for floor seats and
$30 for balcony. In addition, beginning on Thursday, May 17, the station
will offer a limited number of VIP seating packages as a fundraiser.
For a $250 pledge to the station, a donor will receive two seats in
the VIP section, the very best seats in the house. For a $365 pledge,
a donor will receive two VIP seats, plus passes to the private VIP
reception with the cast of the show, following the live taping. A
portion of these contributions to the station will be tax deductible.
These special packages will be available until they are gone. For
