Roll up for the Classical Mystery Tour with the Winston-Salem Symphony and members of the original cast of Broadway’s Beatlemania live in concert. It’s one night only, Saturday, February 18, in R.J. Reynolds Memorial Auditorium in Winston-Salem.

With Winston-Salem Symphony Associate Conductor Matthew Troy on the podium, it’ll be Fab Four hit after Fab Four hit all night long! Matt and Winston-Salem Symphony Music Director Robert Moody dropped by WFDD last week to help TAW host David Ford better understand Beatlemania.

Avenue Q by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx is one of the longest running shows in Broadway history, and it’s also one of the most unusual. The show of actors and puppet characters singing, and dancing side by side, draws a lot of inspiration from Sesame Street with three of the puppet characters being parodies of Bert and Ernie and the Cookie Monster. In the case of Avenue Q though, that safe place for learning is primarily adult learning. Avenue Q is for mature audiences only, and it’s hilarious, packed with great music, and coming to the Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance February 17 through March 4.

This is part 2 of David's interview with WSTA actors Jaye Pierce, Ken Ashford and Dave Wils.

Reynolds Price’s Trilogy New Music comes to the Triad for a once-in-a-lifetime theatrical event at Triad Stage in Greensboro. Opening night for Part 1: August Snow and Night Dance is Friday, February 17 at 7:30 at Triad Stage 232 South Elm Street, and it runs through March 17. Opening Night for New Music Part II: Better Days will be Saturday night February 25 at 7:30.

The novel solidified Price’s emergence as among the best Southern writers of his generation receiving the William Faulkner Award, and he would go on to teach English at Duke University for more than 50 years, and to pen more than 40 novels, plays, and collections of poetry and short stories.

There will be New Music preview performances, and pay-what-you-can performances as well. Triad Stage also presents Technically Talking,-behind the scenes discussions with members of the design team, and PostScript discussions with the cast. New Music is also part of the Greensboro Public Library’s "One City, One Author" program with a month long celebration of over two dozen events honoring North Carolina native Reynolds Price and his work. Triad Stage will play host to some of these free events including a poetry reading on April 10 titled Toasts for Reynolds with Vic Stranberg.

Triad Stage Director Preston Lane and actor Leah Turley chat with TAW host David Ford by phone in between rehearsals from Greensboro.
