The Love Language Returns to Local Roots at this Weekend's Phuzz Phest

The Love Language started out in a Winston-Salem apartment as a lo-fi love letter, and has developed into a panoramic indie pop pastiche, bringing elements of music’s past, present, and future together -  a wall of sound approach that harkens back to the days of Phil Spector and his recordings with the Crystals & The Ronnettes. But beyond the strings, the horns, the glockenspiel, and the healthy dose of reverb, there’s the great songs of singer, songwriter, guitarist Stuart McLamb.

Phuzz Phest Features LA-Based Band No Age

The Los Angeles, California based band No Age has been redefining the lines between melody and noise since the band formed in 2005. Drummer/vocalist Dean Spunt and guitarist Randy Randall formed the band initially as a change of pace from the hardcore punk bands they had been playing in. Embracing an experimental collage approach, and supported by a strong DIY community (in the form of the underground art & music space known as “The Smell,”) No Age quickly developed a following and critical praise.

Winston-Salem based Jared Draughon  has been traveling the sonic seas since high school, playing in all sorts of bands in North Carolina and Brooklyn, New York. His latest musical project finds him playing in a band of one – but lest you think he’s lonely, have no fear – he’s surrounded himself with a wall of amplifiers, a sea of layered vocals, and an army of looping guitars – and he calls it Must Be The Holy Ghost.

NC Shakespeare Festival Offers Theatrical Training Camps

SummerStage 2014 is the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival’s line up of theatrical training camps. This June and July students from 5 to 17 will learn a wide range of acting skills from dedicated NC Shakes faculty and guest clinicians and then share what they’ve learned during summer showcases. Outreach and Education Director Sherri Raeford interned and studied at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London. She’s joined by NCShakes Teen Theatre participant, Guilford county student Chris Holland.

2nd Annual Winston-Salem Songwriter Sessions Features Tyler Nail, Johnathan Loos, and Colin Allured
