Author Clifford Garstang is Recipient of the Library of Virginia Literary Award for Fiction

Clifford Garstang has volunteered with the Peace Corps in South Korea, practiced international law in Singapore, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and worked with the World Bank in Washington D.C. as Senior Counsel for East Asia.

Triad percussionist Bill Smith takes listeners on amazing sonic journeys with a unique collection of instruments. Years of experimentations and improvisations with gongs, singing bowls and other metal percussion led to the recording of Bill’s first solo CD in 2011. It’s entitled "Music for Gongs, Bells and Singing Bowls”. David Ford spoke with Bill in Studio A sitting on the floor in front of dozens of hanging percussion instruments from around the world.

Kenneth Frazelle and Barbara Lister-Sink Share Artwork at Inter_Section Gallery

Kenneth Frazelle is a renowned composer and UNC School of the Arts composition faculty. Barbara Lister-Sink is an internationally acclaimed pianist and Salem College Director of the School of Music. Barbara and Ken are also extremely talented visual artists. Their fascinating dual exhibit at the Inter_Section Gallery and Art Space on Trade Street in Winston-Salem runs through March 29th.

Pianist Pamela Howland and Artist Wendell Myers Celebrate Chopin's Birthday

Pamela Howland is a pianist, her husband Wendell Myers is a painter. This week they’ll combine artistic forces to celebrate Chopin Birthday Festival from Warsaw to Winston-Salem, bringing the year’s old tradition from Chopin’s homeland to the Triad. On Friday it’s Night Music Part 2, a unique concert with Pam playing selections from her new CD of  Frederick Chopin’s Nocturnes 11 through 19, and a painting exhibition of Wendell’s 8 nocturne-inspired works.
