Dr. Julianne Malveaux, President of Bennett College for Women (2007-2012)

Dr. Julianne Malveaux

She's a widely respected economist, a national commentator, an author and everywhere she goes, she encourages activism. Dr. Julianne Malveaux is president of Bennett College for Women in Greensboro. It's one of only two historically black colleges in the nation for women. Dr. Malveaux earned BA and MA degrees from Boston College, and her Ph.D. in economics from MIT. She's authored more than a dozen books and has been featured on several television networks debating an array of social issues. Sunday, Dr. Malveaux officially retires after five years. She first spoke with Denise Franklin in 2007 soon after becoming president. Recently, Dr. Malveaux sat down again with Denise reflecting on helping Bennett grow.

88.5 WFDD, the NPR® news and Triad Arts station broadcasting from Wake Forest University, is the only public radio station of its kind located in the Piedmont Triad. It broadcasts news, information, and public affairs programming covering the arts, people, and institutions in the area from both its Winston-Salem and Greensboro studios.

The state's charter NPR® member, 88.5 WFDD is the longest continuously broadcasting public radio station in North Carolina. It is a member of the North Carolina Public Radio Association.
