A few months ago one high energy dog breed leaped into the national spotlight as one of their own joined President Barack Obama and the First Family in the White House. His name is 'Bo', and he's a Portuguese water dog. Earlier, Denise Franklin had the pleasure of meeting a national champion Portuguese water dog, Rixa, and her owner/trainer, Louise Mowbray.
According to the American Kennel Club, Rixa is one of four dogs in the nation with the award winning status as Versatile Companion Dog Level 4.
She and Louise live in Advance. Louise and Rixa are now in Obedience training and hope to win a championship title this year. Her next competition is the end of this month.
Denise spoke with them earlier. Here an encore presentation of our conversation.
And our media critic Mary Dalton likes the modern revitalization of a very old series.
