Friday, Oct 3, 2008: Charlie Engle
We're all good at something. Well-one Greensboro resident says he's good at competing in long, painful endurance challenges.
He started out running five and ten K races. Then marathons, triathlons and ironman competitions.
Today's guest is Charlie Engle--an international endurance racer.
On September 13, he and a partner began running across America (www.runningamerica08.com)...about 3,100 miles.
Their goals: to finish by October 27--setting a new intercontinential record. And to promote youth fitness and health.
But Charlie's severely injured his right ankle and can't run.
So he'll catch up with his partner on bike and ride to their destination, City Hall in New York City.
Denise spoke with Charlie after he completed another extreme adventure...running the Sahara in Africa. Here's their interview.
Plus, random thoughts. High speed internet. A dangerous combination...according to commentator Diana Greene.
She'll explain.
