Anthony Dean Griffey

Anthony Dean Griffey was born and raised in High Point and now he performs with some of the most prestigious opera companies in the world in major venues. He performs concerts, solos and opera--especially American Operas. And between his world travels, he returns home to High Point.

Anthony studied at Julliard and with the Metropolitan Opera's Young Artist Program and his career spans 15 years. He's 6'4" and describes himself as a 'shy large man'. He says singing enables him to express things he's not comfortable saying.

Anthony says he specializes in portraying characters who are struggling with lonliness, grief and who desire to be wanted and love. Dec. 19-20 he'll perform with the Winston-Salem and Greensboro Symphonies during the Fox 8/Sealy Holiday Concerts.

Also Anthony's just been nominated for two Grammy Awards for Best Classic Album and Best Opera Recording. His website is anthonydeangriffey.com.

It broadcasts news, information, and public affairs programming covering the arts, people, and institutions in the area from both its Winston-Salem and Greensboro studios.

The state's charter NPR® member, 88.5 WFDD is the longest continuously broadcasting public radio station in North Carolina. It is a member of the North Carolina Public Radio Association.
