Friday, May 8, 2009: Frank Colavecchia
As a child growing up in England, Franco Colavecchia had two loves. One was drawing, the other was literature. That led him to painting and opera. And ultimately brought him to the United States.
Now he designs and consults on sets, costumes, wigs and makeup for some of the most prominent opera directors and actors in the world.
But Franco calls the Triad home and teaches at UNCSA.
And last month, the United States Institute for Theatre technology honored him with the Distinguished Achievement Award, recognizing his career spanning almost 45 years.
Franco is also featured in an independent film chronically his work and his life. And the director is one of his former students.
