Friday, Jun 5, 2009: Rusty LaRue
Rusty LaRue grew up in Kernersville and at a young age excelled in sports...especially in football and in basketball. He continued refining his skills on the field and on the court as a Demon Deacon at Wake Forest University. Finally, the lure of professional basketball took him across the country and to Europe.
Now his athletic career is coming full circle. This month, Rusty joins Wake Forest and the Demon Deacons as the new assistant men's basketball coach.
Denise Franklin spoke with Rusty earlier...while he was Athletic Director at Forsyth Country Day School. And he shared his greatest passion...creating athletic programs and events to benefit some remarkable children in our community.
The Rusty LaRue Charity Golf Classic takes place the weekend of August 6 at Oak Valley Golf Course. For more information, go to

In our Health & Medicine Report, Dr. Richard Weinberg discovers a gene that makes the breast milk of some mothers more nutritious.
And our media critic Mary Dalton fears television is getting lost in the electronic dust of hi-tech media.
