I Was Born To Dance

Welcome to StoryLine … where everyday people throughout our community share experiences that have shaped their lives. In this segment, Brenda Taylor talks with Amatullah Saleem, professional dancer and co-founder of local story-telling group A String of Pearls. Amatullah is a native of Winston-Salem. In the mid-40's when she was 12 years old, she moved to Harlem, New York and lived with her mother. Submersed in a cultural mecca of arts and entertainment, Amatullah found her calling at the Katherine Dunham School of Dance. Listen to other stories from our community at storylineproject.org. Storyline is a project of the ECHO Council, dedicated to building trusting relationships in our community. StoryLine….Make the connection.
