Aerospace Industry Growing in Davie County

A former furniture store in Mocksville is now home to a leading aerospace manufacturing company. Carolina Precision Machining has experienced steady growth, since it opened the Davie County plant in 1997.

According to the N.C. Department of Commerce Labor and Economic Analysis Division, In May, unemployment rates increased in 87 of North Carolina’s counties, including Davie County. Statewide, the May rate was 8.9 percent.

But despite the economic woes, an aerospace manufacturing company in Davie County continues to grow.

Residents Encouraged to 'Start By Believing'

Family Service is participating in the Start By Believing program to better support survivors of sexual assault.

Area residents are being asked to Start by Believing. That's the title of a national campaign in April to raise public awareness about sexual assault.Last year in Forsyth County, there were 204 reported cases of sexual assault including rape, statutory rape and molestation.  Down slightly from 2011. Family Services, Inc. is participating. According to DeWanna Hamlin, Coordinator of Prevention and Education,family, friends and co-workers are often the first people in whom survivors confide. So Hamlin recommends people can be supportive by being sensitive.
