Forsyth County Head Start Site Will Close Because of a Loss in Federal Funding

Nationwide, Head Start programs are feeling the painful impact of sequestration, or federal budget cuts.  According to the Administration for Children and Families, about 70,000 children nationwide will lose access to Head Start because of the cuts. In Forsyth County, Family Services in Forsyth County is bracing to close one of its Head Start sites, because of the loss in funding.

Deadline Today for Appeal on Smith-Reynolds Tower Closing

It was a week ago when the Federal Aviation Administration announced that it would close the control tower at Winston-Salem's Smith-Reynolds Airport.  Today, March 20th, is the deadline for the airport to appeal that decision.

Thousands of NC Military jobs at Stake if Budget Cuts Move Forward

Congress and the White House continue to battle over billions in sequestration or budget cuts. U.S. Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina held a briefing with reporters on the issue Tuesday. She says the cuts would have a major impact on North Carolina’s economy.
