Lorena Guillen Tango Duo is Buenos Aires natives singer Lorena Guillen and her husband pianist/composer Alejandro Rutty. In addition to being excellent performers of authentic Argentine Tango, the two UNCG professors are also accomplished scholars.

Forecast Music Performs Chamber Music of Aaron Copland and John Corigliano

Forecast Music was founded in 2001 in what has come to be known as the epicenter of contemporary music in America: Brooklyn, NY. Forecast, the adventurous new music group is now based in the Triad, where it draws on several of the world’s finest composers and performers living right here in North Carolina. The Forecast mission: “…to present new and innovative American concert music of varied aesthetic visions in relaxed, alternative performance spaces as well as traditional concert venues.” Each program is typically one hour in length.

Helen Simoneau Danse Presents Original Choreography at Hanes Brands Theatre

Helen Simoneau Danse is bringing a program of original choreography to downtown Winston-Salem. It’s a short program with live music—both classical and contemporary—and it’ll feature two dances: a duet that Helen began while attending her company’s recent residency at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York, and “Paper Wings” commissioned by the American Dance Festival. Helen says “Paper Wings” was originally choreographed for 19 students. She’s since restaged the work for 11 professional dancers.

The Carolina Winter Music Festival presents “Brass Under the Big Top”, music and magic of the circus for the whole family this Saturday morning, February 22, at 11:00 AM in the Milton Rhodes Center. The unique performance features the acclaimed Giannini Brass with Special Guest Dikki Ellis, from New York's Big Apple Circus. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg called Dikki’s performance “terrific”, and the N.Y. Post’s Clive Barnes said: "One also had to admire the actual circus feats of a very deft Dikki Ellis...".
