Thousands of people are visiting Winston-Salem this week for the 15th annual River Run International Film Festival. More than 140 films, from 35 different countries are being shown at several venues throughout the city through April 21.
One of the films featured at the event is a documentary called Smiling through the Apocalypse: Esquire in the Sixties. Wake Forest University alumnus Tom Hayes produced and directed the film. WFDD’s Keri Brown talked with Hayes by phone from his home in New York City.
The future of two major venues in Winston-Salem remains uncertain. On Wednesday, the public had its first opportunity to weigh in on the potential sale of Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and Bowman Gray Stadium.
