Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Vice President of Development Catherine Heitz New says runners will also experience the arts with hand-crafted pottery by Julie Perry, live music by several local musicians, and culinary arts presented by celebrity chef Curtis Aikens, host of The Food Network’s “Pick of the Day”.

Since 2002 Celtic Pottery Studios has created both functional and decorative pottery and sculptures with elegant crystalline glazes. Janet Gaddy and Timothy Moran began the studio back in 2002 in Danbury, Virginia and now call Brown Summit, North Carolina home. Their partner Jeremy Lea lives in Portland, Maine, and the trio works on pottery full time.

Organist Marilyn Keiser is legendary in the American organ world and she’s in constant demand as a recitalist and workshop leader. This weekend she returns to the Triad in recital at Old Salem Museums and Gardens. On the program will be music by Mendelssohn, Bach, and Haydn as well as two local composers. Marilyn has selected Moravian inspired music by Margaret Vardell Sandresky, titled The Good Shepherd and the Salem Sonata by composer Dan Locklair.

Pianist Alexander Schimpf to Perform Several Concerts with Greensboro Symphony Orchestra

From 2008-2011, German pianist Alexander Schimpf won three major piano competitions beginning with the German Music Competition. That was followed the next year with a First Prize finish in the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna. Two years later, Alexander was the first German pianist ever to win the Cleveland International Piano Competition.
