Since 2002 Celtic Pottery Studios has created both functional and decorative pottery and sculptures with elegant crystalline glazes. Janet Gaddy and Timothy Moran began the studio back in 2002 in Danbury, Virginia and now call Brown Summit, North Carolina home. Their partner Jeremy Lea lives in Portland, Maine, and the trio works on pottery full time.

Marilyn Keiser Performs at Old Salem for 10th Anniversary of David Tannenberg Organ's Restoration

Organist Marilyn Keiser is legendary in the American organ world and she’s in constant demand as a recitalist and workshop leader. This weekend she returns to the Triad in recital at Old Salem Museums and Gardens. On the program will be music by Mendelssohn, Bach, and Haydn as well as two local composers. Marilyn has selected Moravian inspired music by Margaret Vardell Sandresky, titled The Good Shepherd and the Salem Sonata by composer Dan Locklair.

Pianist Alexander Schimpf to Perform Several Concerts with Greensboro Symphony Orchestra

From 2008-2011, German pianist Alexander Schimpf won three major piano competitions beginning with the German Music Competition. That was followed the next year with a First Prize finish in the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna. Two years later, Alexander was the first German pianist ever to win the Cleveland International Piano Competition.

Taylor Brown's "In the Season of Blood and Gold" Released by Press 53

Taylor Brown’s debut collection of short fiction came out this past Saturday, May 3rd.  In the Season of Blood and Gold, published by Press 53, includes twelve stories of dynamic characters and timeless landscapes.  From alligator wrestlers, to Confederate soldiers, and a tattooed artist exploring the map to her heart and to her mother’s, the stories are impressive.

Peppercorn Children’s Theatre is bringing inventive and engaging original works to young theatergoers and the young at heart. The small grassroots organization is also developing emerging theatre artists throughout the region. Each season they hire new actor ensembles and encourage the local artists to return to the company with their own passion work—new plays, set designs, and story ideas—in the future.
