Dudley Shearburn
Dudley Dovel Shearburn was born in Birmingham,
Alabama, where she attended Birmingham Southern College and earned her Bachelor's
degree with two majors: Spanish Literature and English Literature.
While teaching public school in Missouri - and raising seven children -
she earned her Master's Degree and PhD. at St. Louis University. She began
teaching Women's Studies courses at Salem College in Winston-Salem in 1977.
For the past twelve years, Dr. Shearburn has lead reading groups for community
members who love good literature. She has visited more than two dozen foreign
countries, and always examines the literature of each country.
