Greensboro Farmers Curb Market
88.5 WFDD is proud to sponsor the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, where more than one hundred local farmers bring produce, eggs, meats, flowers, and baked goods to sell. The Market is located at 501 Yanceyville Street, at the corner of Yanceyville and Lindsay Streets, just east of downtown Greensboro, across from War Memorial Baseball Stadium. It’s open Saturdays all year round, from 7am to 12noon, and is now open May through December on Wednesdays from 8am to 1:30pm. There’s plenty of free parking available, or on Wednesdays, catch the Curb 2 Curb free market shuttle departing every 15 minutes from 11:30am to 1pm from the Renaissance Plaza at 230 North Elm Street.
Greensboro Farmers Market, Inc.’s vision statement is “Farmers, Food, Friends.” Greensboro Farmers Market provides greater Greensboro with opportunities to purchase and learn about local food and crafts while interacting with producers and each other in a friendly and diverse social setting. Greensboro Farmers Market encourages and supports the growth of local foods and artisan goods businesses to improve greater Greensboro’s economy, support better health through healthy eating and build social and community connections.
Pick up some fresh produce, meat, eggs, or baked goods from local providers, and grab lunch on site or to-go.

The Blue Ridge Music Center 2014 Summer Concert Series
88.5 WFDD is proud to sponsor the Blue Ridge Music Center's 2014 Summer Concert Series, whose artists include Grammy Award Winners The Carolina Chocolate Drops and The Steep Canyon Rangers, plus The Kruger Brothers, Wayne Henderson, Red June, and Chatham County Line; also guest hosts Paul Brown (formerly of NPR and 88.5 WFDD) and Kinney Rorrer (WVTF); and many other musicians. Concerts begin on Saturday, May 31st, with Bluegrass and Old Time Mountain Music performed by Chatham County Line and The Buckstankle Boys, and will continue through October 11th's concert featuring The Steep Canyon Rangers and The New Spring Valley Boys. Shows are generally scheduled for Saturday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, with some exceptions, so please check the full schedule.
Attendees should bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets (but no alcohol, please!), and the Galax Smokehouse will be present on concert nights serving up barbeque and sides.
The Blue Ridge Music Center is located at the heart of one of the most musical places on earth-- the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. It features a free, interactive, and entertaining exhibition highlighting the historical significance of the region's music. The exhibition traces the history of Blue Ridge Mountain Music through local artists back to the creation of the music generations ago by people from Europe and West Africa, and shows its continued influence on many forms of folk, rock, and popular music made across America today. The Blue Ridge Music Center is also the starting point for two beautiful hiking trails. It is operated by the National Park Service, with the programming coordinated through a partnership with The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation.
