6-12-2009 Will the Switch to Digital Leave You in the Dark?: You've heard the public service announcements for more than a year and a half. And now, the day is finally here. By law, television stations nationwide must begin broadcasting exclusively in a digital format. After several set and re-set dates by Congress, Friday marks the United State's conversion from analog to digital broadcasting.

Digital television, better known as DTV, a new form of broadcast technology designed to provide clearer picture and sound.

WFDD's LeShea Agnew discovered some Triad residents and TV stations have been ready for the switch for years, while others are content to be left in the dark.

88.5 WFDD, the NPR® news and Triad Arts station broadcasting from Wake Forest University, is the only public radio station of its kind located in the Piedmont Triad. It broadcasts news, information, and public affairs programming covering the arts, people, and institutions in the area from both its Winston-Salem and Greensboro studios.

The state's charter NPR® member, 88.5 WFDD is the longest continuously broadcasting public radio station in North Carolina. It is a member of the North Carolina Public Radio Association.
