In recent weeks, several school of music students at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem have won major competitions throughout the Southeast. The musicians include violinists, singers, and… a saxophonist.
Saxophonist Steven Banks will join the Durham Symphony in a performance of the first movement of Paul Crestron’s Concerto for Alto Saxophone on Sunday, March 6th, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. He’s the only non-string player selected among both winners and honorable mentions in the 2011 Durham Symphony Young Artists Competition.
