Thousands in the Dark Across the State

February 6, 2010

The remnants of Friday's Winter storm in the Triad is still being felt by thousands. Duke Energy is reporting more than 64,000 outages across our state and one county is in a State of Emergency. A shelter is available for residents of Henderson County. It's located at 312 Fifth Avenue West. Residents in need of assistance are asked to call the American Red Cross' chapter in Henderson County at (828) 693-5605. Henderson County is located beside Buncombe County.

It broadcasts news, information, and public affairs programming covering the arts, people, and institutions in the area from both its Winston-Salem and Greensboro studios.

The state's charter NPR® member, 88.5 WFDD is the longest continuously broadcasting public radio station in North Carolina. It is a member of the North Carolina Public Radio Association.
