Frederick Church's "Andes of Ecuador" to Spark Freshmen Discussions

August 11, 2010

One Triad university is putting a new twist on summer academic training. Rather than assign a book to the 1,200 first year students entering Wake Forest University this Fall, the university has assigned a painting: Frederick Church's famous landscape from 1855 titled "The Andes of Ecuador".

WFDD's David Ford spoke with Associate Dean for Academic Advising Perry Patterson about this unconventional discussion project.
