Guilford County Superintendent Announces New Student Initiatives
February 4, 2010
The Guilford County School System says it's doing more to impact the character development of its students.
Last month, Superintendent Maurice Green unveiled the new initiatives at the State of Our Schools Address in Greensboro.
WFDD's LeShea Agnew spoke with Superintendent Green about the new programs and why they're needed.
According to Green, any additional monies needed to fund the new inititatives will come from the school system's budget and outside groups that have pledged their financial support.
The One Million Books campaign has already begun in some Greensboro schools and Green predicts all schools will begin the program in the coming months.
The Character Development initiative will begin in the 2010-2011 school year.
