The business school at Winston-Salem State University has had its accreditation extended for another year. However, the university was told it will need to improve several aspects of its programs.

An accreditation team visited  WSSU in February to reaffirm its approval from five years ago, and evaluate faculty members who teach at the School of Business and Economics.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports the visit came on the heels of the university restructuring its academic programs and consolidating the business school with the College of Arts and Sciences.

The accrediting team praised WSSU for attracting what it called a more qualified undergraduate population.

But their report also pointed to low morale among faculty members following the restructuring decision.

Among its recommendations, the accreditation team said the school needed to improve its academic business programs and strengthen criteria for how faculty members are classified.
