Camino Bakery's Cary Clifford Discusses Her Deep Love for Winston-Salem
Cary Clifford is the owner and founder of Camino Bakery in downtown Winston-Salem. This local bakery attracts people from all over the area to downtown. Radio Camper Heather Schwartz sat down with her to find out more.
She walked up to me with a wide smile and an obvious enthusiasm to begin the conversation. Her enthusiasm for the interview stayed, and her comments on starting a business caught my eyes and ears.
A business entails a lot of different things, from dealing with employees to just managing day to day operations to finances - all of that stuff that wouldn't really be touched on in culinary school.
Later in the interview, we talked about Second Sundays on Fourth, her music series that came from her love for downtown. Here's what she has to say about downtown before it was reborn in a sense thanks to local businesses.
So I grew up in Winston-Salem and the time-period when I grew up - and I won't tell you when because then you'd be guessing how old I am - the downtown had just completely pretty shut down, other than having the big corporations there such as banks and things.
