Results from 10 states show that more people have voted early for these mid-term elections than in 2010. Registered Democrats have out-voted registered Republicans by 16 percentage points in North Carolina.
In-person early voting is over in North Carolina, and nearly 200,000 more ballots were cast compared to the last midterm election in 2010.
State Board of Elections data show nearly 1.1 million votes were cast before early-voting centers closed Saturday.
Another 58,000 traditional absentee ballots also have been collected this fall. Others must get turned in or postmarked by Election Day to qualify.
The legislature reduced the number of early voting days from 17 to 10 days for this mid-term election.
Breaking down the numbers, 48 percent of all cast ballots have come from Democrats, 32 percent from Republicans and 20 percent from unaffiliated voters.
25 percent of all ballots are from black voters and 72 percent from white voters.
