A relatively small number of Guilford County voters went to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots for several offices in the 2015 municipal primary.

In the mayoral race, incumbent Nancy Vaughan pulled in more than 87 percent of the vote, followed by newcomer Devin King with 7.3 percent. Candidate Sal Leone, who has run for several local offices in the past, came in third.

That means Vaughan and King will square off for the mayor's post in the November general election.

Meanwhile, the race for Greensboro City Council's District 3 went easily to incumbent Justin Outling, who won more than 60 percent of the vote. Outling was appointed to the post this year.

Outling will face Kurt Collins -- who came in second at nearly 23 percent -- in November.

While voter turnout in primaries is typically smaller than in general elections, the number of ballots cast in Tuesday's race was extremely low.

According to the unofficial results, only 7,157 votes were cast out of a possible 187,257. That's a rate of just 3.82 percent.
