Fur Flies Over First Cat Cafe

INSKEEP: Actually, it's cat cafe. There's been a bit of a cat fight over which city would host the nation's first cat cafe, meaning a place where patrons can cozy up with a latte and also a feline in need of a good home and hopefully adopt that cat.

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

A San Francisco shop called KitTea has been in the works for some time, raising about $60,000 over the Internet for a launch later this year. But it looks like it's been big-footed or should I say, big pawed?

INSKEEP: No, don't say that.

(LAUGHTER)

INSKEEP: Purina, the cat food maker, will open the nation's actual first cat cafe in New York on Thursday. But scurry over there because the pop-up cafe only open through Sunday.
