Local Businesses Honored For Superior Ethics

A select group of local businesses received a special honor Tuesday. Winners were announced for this year's Piedmont Business Ethics Awards.

An awards ceremony for nine finalists was held at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro. Attendees included Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan, Guilford College President Kent Chabotar and nearly 200 business leaders.

Established locally in 2000, the Piedmont Business Ethics Awards honors companies that demonstrate a firm commitment to ethical business practices in everyday operations, management philosophies, and responses to crises or challenges. An independent panel of judges drawn from Piedmont academia evaluated all of the local companies entered in the contest.

The awards ceremony is sponsored by the Greensboro Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals in partnership with Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co., LLP and DMJ Wealth Advisors, LLC and First Citizens Bank.

This year's nine finalists are: Airsoft R Us Tactical, Anderson-Moore Builders, Duncan Exxon, Flow Automotive, Miss Jenny's Pickles, Planet Fitness, Samet Corp., Spevco and The Soap Lady. The announcement was made by PBEA Judging Chair Ruth Petty.

The 2014 winners announced on Tuesday, April 29 are: The Soap Lady, Spevco, Samet Corp., and Flow Automotive.
