The North Carolina Department of Transportation is making it easier for motorists to reach their Thanksgiving designation.
A statement from the department says most construction projects along interstate, North Carolina and U.S. routes are suspended now through 9:00 on Monday, December 2.
There are four exceptions. U.S. 1 just north of Aberdeen is reduced to one lane in each direction for new bridge construction. U.S. 158 in Elizabeth City is reduced to one lane in each direction over the Pasquotank River for resurfacing and new bridge construction.
U.S. 13 is closed north of Windsor for replacement of the bridge over the Cashie River, and Interstate 73 in Greensboro is reduced to two lanes in each direction between I-40 and I-85 to build a new interchange with High Point Road.
