Namrata Sangha and the Indo-US Cultural Association Bring India to the Triad
Namrata Sangha is the secretary of the Indo-US Cultural Association, a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to increase awareness of the cultural heritage of India in the Triad region of North Carolina. Radio Camper Emma McSawley sat down to talk to her.
Namrata walked up to me wearing a pale green long-sleeve shirt and brown pants. She was carrying a red umberella and had a smile on her face. She was eager to tell me about how much planning goes into the India Fest, which her organization hosts yearly.
There's a lot of behind the scenes activities! We started on the India Fest from I would say probably March and it just gets really steady. There's a few things we have to line up from the beginning of the year to make sure our funds are there, make sure our sponsors are there, make sure we have enough vendors coming in and displaying an array of what our culture needs exposed or highlighted to the community, so there's a lot of planning in that aspect.
We continued having our conversation and soon got around to talking about what she enjoys about working with the team she works with in the association.
Well, with the association, I really like working with the team that we currently have. They're very outgoing, they're very dedicated. They are very goal-driven. We set a goal in mind and the activities that are needed and required to get it done, and one way or another we get it, we accomplish it.
