A new North Carolina non-profit, NC Aerospace, is forming to advocate for aerospace business in the Triad and across the state. The agency includes some of the biggest local names in aviation, including Honda Aircraft, HAECO Americas and N-S Aviation.

NC Aerospace is based at Guilford Technical Community College's Cameron campus in northwest Guilford County. Penny Whiteheart leads the initiative. She was the executive vice president of the Piedmont Triad Partnership. According to the Triad Business Journal, the organization will get funding from a variety of sources, including membership fees, sponsorships for events such as a "state of aerospace" event, and annual conferences.

Whiteheart says that while NC Aerospace isn't an economic development organization, it will be an asset to state and regional recruitment efforts.

Kip Blakely of HAECO Americas says the agency's goal is to make North Carolina the "center point" of global aviation growth in the Southeast.
