And let's hear one more voice on this tragedy. It is South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley who has been speaking with reporters this morning.

S.C. GOVERNOR NIKKI HALEY: We woke up today, and the heart and soul of South Carolina was broken.

INSKEEP: Nikki Haley speaking just a short time ago. Again, authorities have given us some news here this morning, stating that they now have a suspect in custody in the shooting that killed nine people at a South Carolina church.
